Flower feature: Vanda

This week at the Brooklyn Flower Shop we are featuring Vanda. They are part of the Orchid family of flowers. Vandas are very interesting in shape and color. With the traditional orchid shape they come in a variety of spotted colors. Our clients love the pink and blue versions the best. Here are some images and videos to immerse yourself with the Vanda. We feature this in our ready-made wholesale bouquets. To learn more about our wholesale program click here. You can also shop the ready-made bouquets on Fridays in Williamsburg at our shop 156 Lee Ave we are open 10am – 3pm during the winter season.

Our friends at Brooklyn Botanical Garden have Vanda flowers in their Aquatic House Orchid Collection.

This article by David Horak has details more details about orchids and how they grow. “In places with higher sun exposure, the leaves tend to be stiffer and more leathery, as with Vanda species. These orchids are almost constantly in a state of growth, with little or no defined rest period.” Which makes them perfect for the florist here at Brooklyn Flower Shop.
